Joey Covarrubias added 11 points for the Cardinals he was 7 for 8 from the foul line in the second half and 6 foot 10 junior post Gligorije Rakocevic scored 12 points with several nice left handed baskets.
The Cardinals built a 15 point lead in the fourth on a three point play by Andrew Martinez, but top seeded Sierra Canyon battled back. Adam Seiko scored eight points in the fourth quarter and freshman post Cody Riley scored seven. Riley led all scorers with 24 points, and he converted three three point plays in the third quarter.
The Cardinals held a 24 15 halftime lead, paced by six points each from Mejia and Rakocevic. Mejia made one 3 point shot in the second quarter and was fouled on another, which led to three made free throws. Rakocevic added two buckets and two foul shots, and he grabbed four rebounds as well. Balsa Dragovic had five first half rebounds and three blocks.
Ramsey scored eight first half points, and converted an acrobatic three point play in the second quarter. Cantwell defense, however, limited interior players Riley and Ira Lee to four combined points and nine combined rebounds before halftime.
