?Speaking at the inauguration of the Dharwad chapter of Karnataka Right to Information Federation at Karnatak Vidyavardhaka Sangha here, he said,
"Before the act was passed citizens could not seek information about various government policies and other official activities. This has paved way for corruption, nepotism and red tapism. With the RTI Act in place the bureaucracy and the elected representatives have become accountable to common man."
"The babus and men in white can no longer take the citizens for a ride. Even the judiciary has become more alert and is trying to dispose of the cases fast for the fear of being questioned under RTI Act," he added. Justice Arali Nagaraj said, "Only a sensitised society can build a corruptionfree nation. People have to wake up from their slumber and make a collective effort to ensure transparency in the administration."
