It seems clear that there are those who can tell the difference. I do agree with your point about quotes however, if from the bible then book verse, etc should be more than sufficient. Trying to find such a source would be next to impossible. I think the lack of crediting of images is far more of a problem than public domain quotes or the Bible and using images from sites that clearly prohibit doing so in their tos.
I have reported many of these and nothing happens to the lenses or the lensmasters in many cases so I have quit reporting. JMHO and I do realize that attribution in general is a huge can of worms and better practices would be wise.
