Nike Free Run Tebow’s pastor says God’s behind Bronco’s winning streak

Pastor Wayne Hanson who runs Summit Church in Castle Rock, CO where Tim’s dad often speaks tells TMZ God is actively intervening in Denver Broncos football games and aiding Tim on the field because of his strong faith.

Hanson tells us, “It’s not luck. Luck isn’t winning 6 games in a row. It’s favor. God’s favor.”

This weekend we saw tons of coverage of Tebow and much of it was focused on religion. Here’s the Nike Free Run Christian Science Monitor. Here’s Frank Bruni in the (with a good column ending in a lamer than lame kicker). Here’s Salon’s “Hallelujah! The Liberal Case For Tim Tebow.” Last week Grantland had Chuck Klosterman’s analysis of Tebow haters. And since we’re linking things, here’s a nice non religiony think piece from last month on what Tebow demonstrates about changes in the NFL. As I type this, Bob Costas is featuring Tebow mania for his monologue.

Many evangelicals do believe God works in their everyday lives, so it’s not that much different for Tebow on the field. You’ve heard of “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”? Well according to his testimony Tebow can pass/make plays/win games through Christ who strengthens him. He considers his coaches and teammates a “blessing.” He believes God has a plan for him as a quarterback.

With that perspective, for Tebow and his pastor, of course God has something to do with the wins.

However, it’s important to note that fans the sign toting, jersey wearing, Tebowing Broncos Nation acknowledge Tebow’s faith, but it’s really the football they’re after.

“It’s inspired by a moment of intense Denver fandom, not religion. It’s not a symbol of the evangelical faith, it’s something playful and fun,” said Dodd, who’s also the managing editor of religion site Patheos.

Oh, please. Somehow I doubt that God would take sides in something so trivial as a football game. But these guys in the pulpit are continually spouting this drivel. Similar to the Dallas Baptist preacher who said Mormons are not Christians. Religion has been behind all the wars that have occurred for centuries and it is a stupid reason to fight. Religious should be respectful of ALL people no matter their faith. I am a believer, but not in religion; church is no longer where I pray because of all the bigotry practised there.

When Quincy Carter won a few games for Dallas, he blathered about favoring him. When he lost games and got caught using drugs, why didn he mention wanting him to lose or get caught?

When Kurt Warner won games, he flapped repeatedly his gums about cheezus. When he lost, he claimed by the coaching staff instead of admitting he couldn perform anymore.

If/When Tebow loses six in a row, I write an item saying is worshipping satan, Nike Free Run that why he lost or was against him and you publish it.

It would be hypocrisy for you not to do so. But hypocrisy is a core value and basis of religion. It wouldn be able to make self aggrandizing claims without it.

If God wanted Tim Tebow to win every game Tim would win every game. If God wanted Tim to play good for 4 quarters God could have Tim play good for 4 quarters.

God wants a certain popular Christian QB to HONOR HIM and stop honoring the name of the pagan goddess NIKE the pagan goddess still worshipped today in Nike Free Run Paganism but a certain popular Christian QB won stop because he has free will.

So do you really think God wants that QB to win every game so NIKE (the company that QB promotes) can sell more products?

Hmmm. So, according to this nimrod, the efforts of Tebow team mates counts for nothing at all?

One wonders what his team mates think of this.

It will be interesting to hear this person reaction when the Broncos lose with Tebow at the helm.

Will he blame Tebow for having lost the favor of the almighty? Will he instead, blame the almighty for being capricious in bestowing favor upon an obvious unworthy, while ignoring the prayers of Tebow, the Anointed One?
