Visit Uniqlo in Soho (546 Broadway between Prince St Spring St). A recent import from Japan, this sizable store features designer exclusives through the Designer Invitation Project. For example, the Brazilian designer Juliana Jabour designed some tunics for Uniqlo. The store also offers well made, comfortable graphic tees (some recently inspired by the art of Jean Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring), hoodies, cashmere sweaters and leggings. On top of that, if you buy their jeans, they tailor them on the SAME day for FREE!
Go to Find Outlet in Chelsea (361 W 17th Street) if you’re strictly about designer labels. Small jordan 9 in comparison to Uniqlo but jam packed with brand names like Alice + Olivia, Marc Jacobs, Paul Joe and Earnest Sewn, FInd Outlet is like a sample sale that never ends. Their prices range from 30% to 50% off retail value. The setup is far from fancy (think metal racks of clothing and buckets of accessories), and while they have a second location in Nolita at 229 Mott Street between Prince and Spring, the selection there isn’t usually as diverse as the 17th street store. Browse through Ina, a consignment shop, for deals on slightly worn to brand new styles by the hottest designers like Gucci, Prada and Louis Vuitton. For example, you can find Burberry raincoats for under $200, and Ina was the one who had the Sex and the City Wardrobe Sale. They have four different locations: 21 Prince St., between Mott and Elizabeth Streets; 101 Thompson St., between Prince and Spring Streets, 208 E. 73rd St. between Second and Third Avenues and a men’s store, Ina Men on 262 Mott St., between Prince and Houston Streets. Star Struck has affordable pieces for both men and women, and a friendly and helpful staff. A recent trip revealed a whole rack of sailor pants, Hawaiian shirts, shearling coats, cowboy boots, and a varied assortment of skinny ties, in addition to staples like jeans, suits, dresses, t shirts and sweaters. It can be a bit cluttered, so go with plenty of time to browse.
Discover new, rising designers at Zachary’s Smile (9 Greenwich Ave, between 10th St Christopher St) which jordan 3 also has its own label that features everyday sportswear to fun, youthful dresses perfect for the party and club scene. Zachary’s Smile reworks vintage clothing into new designs: for example, a former hunting t shirt with the big deer on it was made into a unique dress You can find some real steals here if you look around around, there are true bargain to be had (recently there were $5 $10 skirts and bags.) Its own line frequently goes on sale.
