For me, I really try to not leave a huge carbon footprint on the environment and I conscientious of what I am doing to this planet. With that said, I would love to be able to avoid using my car unless I in dire conditions.

It just seems to me that bicycling in the winter time is not exactly fun, but I really trying to convince myself to cease my use of my car and focus more on my bicycle for transportation.

I love riding my bicycles. I have two road bikes, one is a vintage road bike that is getting old and rusty; my other bicycle is a Cannondale Caad9 R6 2009 that I love using, but is really difficult to use for classes, urban riding, work, etc., because of the cleats I need to use and being forced to not wear my jeans because the bike rips my pants (this did happen to me). Single speed or fixed is a good way to go in the winter, super low maintenance. A cross bike with cantilever brakes is nice if you biking through snow. Mountain bike isn a bad choice either. I like a 29er because you don really need the agility offered by a 26er for the street.
