Some people worry each and every day about getting hurt at work or getting in some type of accident in traffic, but there are other concerns as well that have nothing to do with either one of those things, and most people don’t think of them at all. When you’re out on the town with friends doing some shopping or when you’re heading somewhere by yourself, you have to pay attention to your surroundings. While it’s unlikely that a falling piano could hit you, there are more common everyday hazards that you could fall victim to if you aren’t careful. Loose paving stones or those that are broken and sticking up could easily trip you. For ladies wearing high heeled shoes this is more of a risk, but anyone can trip and fall on an uneven surface, so it’s important to pay attention to where you are walking and what your surroundings are like. Wet pavement can be slippery, and that could also cause a fall, so watch out for puddles from the rain or any water that is left on the sidewalk from people watering flowers or even spilling a drink. Most people won’t have any problem with these things but there are always simple accidents that happen when you least expect it, and most of them can be avoided.
You might be worried about getting mugged when walking down the street, but the chances are greater that you could fall and get hurt instead. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t pay attention to people who look suspicious or might be out to hurt you, but only that you should pay more attention to the rest of your surroundings, as well. Watch where you’re walking, keep an eye on what’s above and around you, and interact with your world. It can help keep you out of danger. People always seem to be scurrying off to whatever comes next in their lives and because of that they really don’t pay attention to what’s around them. By stopping to smell the roses they might just notice that bee that would have stung them otherwise.
