A self guided interpretive hike in pond habitat. Pintail Pond offers a self guided nature trail looping around watery lowlands and nearby Gamble Creek. The trail is a part of the 13 mile trail system known as the Rifle River Recreation Area. The trail is an easy hike even for the casual hiker, passing through mixed habitat approximately 1 mile north of the Rifle River. Terrain is generally flat, presenting no obstacles to hikers regardless of experience. Wear comfortable shoes. Special attractions: Flora and fauna along the shores of Pintail Pond and a neighboring creek. Wildflowers abound in early spring.
