The RedHawks can’t offer the millions of dollars in salary, so the Triple A baseball team put together a package to try to lure the biggest free agent in recent history.
The offer includes a luxury suite at least once per homestand; letting James create a "LeBratwurst" hotdog with toppings of his choice; the chance to throw out the first pitch every night; giving him all free promotional giveaways; changing ticket packages to honor James’ number; four tickets to the "All You Can Eat" section; and gift certificates to local businesses.
The Hawks are not the first baseball team to make a run at James. The Frontier League’s Lake Erie Crushers offered James the league maximum contract: $1,600 per month.
The Crushers even offered a host family for James to live with so he wouldn’t have to make the 56 mile drive from Akron, Ohio, to Avon.
