The Vikings’ defensive coaching realignment highlights coach Leslie Frazier’s desire to uphold a defense he helped build.
Frazier is keeping the principles of the Tampa 2 defense. He’s bringing in his own pupil in new coordinator Alan Williams, who worked with Frazier in Indianapolis from 2005 06, and his grip on the defensive outlook will be firm this offseason.

Both Williams and Frazier would like to see improvement in the secondary after their respective backfields tied for the league low with eight interceptions. Indianapolis finished second in pass defense in 2007, Williams’ first full year as defensive backs coach, but fell to 15th in 2011 as the Colts limped to a 2 14 finish.
