Driving your car to Lansdowne Park rather, trying to drive your car for the Ottawa RedBlacks home opener July 18 will be maddening.
That why officials Monday emphasized over and over that ticket holders need to resist the temptation because, unless you sitting in club seats or suites, you not getting a spot at Lansdowne.
The plan depends heavily on people taking OC Transpo, STO or driving to designated park and Air Jordan 19s ride lots and taking a shuttle bus. All transit and shuttle services will be free to ticket holders and the costs will be swallowed by OSEG.
OSEG anticipates 36% of the ticket holders will use the off site lots and shuttle buses at Canada Post HQ, Vincent Massey Park, Carleton University and the RA Centre.
There will also be direct Transpo service from park and ride lots in Kanata, Barrhaven, Orleans and South Keys. STO will have direct routes from locations in Gatineau. Those direct transit services will run three hours before and three hours after events.
While OSEG has estimated the on street parking spaces at 2,500 in an area between the Queensway, Riverside Dr., Bronson Ave. and the Rideau River, motorists will still need to adhere to the regular time restrictions.
Bylaw officers will be watching.
OSEG anticipates 700 people cycling and 2,100 people walking to TD Place for RedBlacks games.
People will be able to walk throughout the Lansdowne site, but the retail and residential buildings are still under construction. The retail component won open until the fall.
For that reason, it could be a boon for Bank St. Jordan Pro Strong restaurants on game days this summer.
Gilbert Russell, vice chairman of the Glebe BIA, said OSEG has done a good job of consulting with businesses on the transportation plan.

There will be no on street parking on Bank St. for the home opener. Russell said the BIA fought hard to keep the parking ban restricted to one day.

Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group said transit and shuttle buses are critical to its “Game Plan to Get Down to Lansdowne Transportation Plan” during a media briefing Air Jordan 2011 Monday, Parking is at a premium at the site, and in fact is only available Air Jordan Spizike to VIP and season ticket holders on a reservation basis.
All others must take transit, cycle, walk or use Air Jordan 2s another form or transportation.
