I have to confess that as much I respect and sustain LDS Church President Thomas S. Monson, I can’t imagine him standing at the doors of our stake center on a Saturday night or Sunday morning, greeting all the attendees with a handshake and smile.
That’s sort of sad. While researching the life of the late LDS Prophet George Albert Smith, I learned it was custom long ago for apostles’ offices to be open to the public. One could walk in off the street and seek a meeting. I don’t begrudge the security measures today. There are dangerous people out there and I’m sure many church leaders are threatened by cranks, etc.
But the isolation of the LDS Church hierarchy concerns me at times. The flattery, particularly in publications such as Church News and Times, is cringe inducing. I recall an article in Church News urging members to read good books. The cover art,

Anyway, our stake has been all aflutter recently because our conference would include the LDS apostle, Richard G. Scott. Although he later decided to skip the Sunday AM service, my wife and I were able to see him on Saturday. As I filed into a priesthood leadership session that afternoon,
Sale Online Cheap Air Jordan 6 Varsity Red, it occurred to me that this was only the second time in my life I had been in a setting with an apostle where there were fewer than 100 people in attendance. I decided to take advantage of this rare opportunity and observe an apostle from a distance of less than 25 yards.
Elder Scott is elderly and moves slowly, and appears to have the aches and pains that accompany the final era of a life. Elder Scott spoke very slowly and deliberately, and appeared to provide a lot of thought before speaking. He handled most of the questions with evident concentration and deference, even the effusive, flattering comments. His responses to questions were more of the common sense variety than an attempt to teach the questioner something new. His answers are, in my opinion, something that the question asker would have realized on his own after a lot of thought and study on the issue.
It’s easy to see why he was chosen to be an LDS apostle. A retired nuclear physicist, even late in life he looks like someone who can get extremely hard, time consuming tasks accomplished.
Only once did Elder Scott reveal a persona absent from general conference,

We were told in the meeting that apostles are not exempt from home teaching, or being home taught. I hope that statements extends to the latter day prophets jumping in their vehicles and heading down the street to knock on a ward member’s house. If that’s being done,

Either you believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the Lord church on the earth, or you don If in fact it is His church, He has organized it in His wisdom to be administrated to the best of their ability by fallible human beings.
In the final analysis, it is with Jesus Christ, our Savior that we should seek regular audience. It seems likely that as the church has grown and matured,

Polish and Proud; You obviously don know a lot about or have a true testimony of the Priesthood office of Apostle. The Church is far too large to allow (as you put it) to approach them when ever they choose. I don know an Apostle that acts like a star and I have met several, as well as a living Prophet. I currently have the email address of one of the Apostles but I won send him an email= even though I been tempted.
There are priesthood channels just as there have always been. Here a great comparison:
The Prophet Joseph Smith, Sidney Rigdon and others traveled to the White House to see the president at the time. They walked right up to the front door and knocked. They were admitted into the White House and spoke with the president for an hour There an obvious comparison
If you want to strengthen your knowledge and testimony of the calling of Apostle, read Tribute to the Rank and File of the Church Boyd K. Packer 1970
When the Church was in infancy, Emma Smith would get angry at all the people ruining her garden as they asked her husband question. With 14 million members, there is a good reason why they act the way they do. Look at the past false doctrines taught by prophets and apostles, that blacks couldn have the priesthood and the ludicrous reasons why that are not supported by revelation, scripture or logic are the biggest example of the harm that can be done when questions are answered by opinions from star leaders. You make good points, but David O. McKay was right to stop all their public debates over the doctrinal questions that have no reviled answers and no saving powers.
The problem isolation of leaders of large organizations is a common one, and not one uniquely characteristic of LDS leaders. I heard the same complaints about the Pope and Catholic church leaders, about Presidents [every one I can recall], about Senators and Congressmen ["losing touch with the people who elected them"],
Authentic Mens Air Jordan 6 Brazil World Cup, and on and on. Sometimes complaints like that merely mean The Leader is saying things the complainer disagrees with. But sometimes the criticism seems very much on target. [Recent example from Rick Sanortum: ""People have no problem paying $900 for an iPad," Santorum said, "but paying $900 for a drug they have a problem with it keeps you alive. Why? Because you’ve been conditioned to think health care is something you can get without having to pay for it." Mr. Santorum was replying to a woman who said she couldn’t afford to pay $900 a month not one time for medicine to keep her son alive. Pretty clear Mr. Santorum hasn’t had to worry for a very long time about whether he can afford a prescription or to pay for medical care for a child or his wife. The days when a President could live in an unfenced house without massive security are gone. Security based isolation is more or less inevitable now. leaders surrounding themselves with yes men [or women], and hearing only comment, advice etc. tailored to reinforce what they already think or what the advice giver believes they already think. It takes a real and concerted effort, sometimes, on the part of high leaders of any vast organization to see that they have advisers whose advice can be relied upon to be honest, who will tell them every now and then,

Bob Becker said, problem isolation of leaders of large organizations is a common one, and not one uniquely characteristic of LDS leaders. to some extent. I think one big thing that keeps LDS leaders more in touch with their membership,

I think it was Jeffrey R. Holland who, somewhat recently, addressed the issue of church leaders, especially apostles,

My home teacher, who was a personal guard for President Hinckley for a decade or so, and who then, worked in Protection had many opportunities being in vehicles with Mormon apostles. He said they would often talk about various committee assignments they had,

I sorry,
Buy Online Womens Shoes Air Jordan 3 Fear, but this is incorrect. I have personally worked in the Humanitarian Center and packed pallets of schoolbags for children in Haiti, hygiene bags, and newborn bags for Haiti (after the disaster, new mothers had to wrap their naked newborns in newspaper). That one tiny part of what done there. This is done constantly for all natural disasters and for poverty stricken countries. You should go there yourself and see what is actually done for the world. You be shocked, but because it is done for the sake of doing it and not for glory, and also done everyday so it seems mundane to people, it ignored.
Don try to tell me what I have actually, personally done is fake!

Also,
2014 Online Discount Sale Spizike Space Blue, I was volunteering at a General Conference in 2003 when there was a big stir at doors 7,8, 9. President Hinkley had just walked through those doors and was shaking hands and talking with all he could. I been in other meetings with President Monson where after the meeting he would shake hands with any and all that went up to him. In other words, this article is full of something, but I wouldn call it truth.
I went to high school with President Fausts grandson, played water polo with him. President Faust not only came to a game but sat in the stands and talked with all who had something to say to him. Just because you aren where they are, stop assuming!
Good thing we aren watching that then isn it. The church uses its resources to help and to bless the lives of both it members and the broader community around the world. If you have a problem with good management then that is another story, but as someone from across the other side of the world from in general (in Australia) I see no out of touch leader, I have met an apostle and also a prophet, neither were scared or unwilling to meet the regular members,
Moreover, but they DO have limited time and a lot of things expected of them. If you expect someone who receives regular threats from people who may or may not be mentally disturbed to not be protected then you really do believe in poor management. God said to Adam in Genesis 2: 15 the LORD God took the man,
Real Womens Shoes Air Jordan 10 Cool Grey, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. Ie: Manage the resources I have given you. Currently, there are more than 28,660 congregations in the worldwide Church. If all fifteen members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the twelve Apostles were to divide up and visit a different congregation every Sunday, it would take more than 38 years for them to reach every unit of the Church. This is a sign of the successful growth of the Church that church members should celebrate instead of grumbling.
